Welcome To

Bulldog Day Uk 2018

What can I say it was amazing each year we have grown , but this years was totally awesome and the best ever , we had 455 + dogs and their owners and families ,we had the Bulldog Breed Council with a double stand educating everyone who cared to stop by ,we had 26 different product stalls selling items that were bulldog related .

We had sponsored new Marquees as the wind took our basic ones last year  so the Bulldog Day Newark facebook page paid for the show tent and Vicky’s Puppy rearing and handrearing support group sponsored the other one. These we brought out of season for the very best price and they really are strong professional quality they provided shade and would have been wet weather if we had been unlucky on the day .

We had a bit of a challenge over the weather , on Saturday there was a deluge of heavy rain flooding the hall , kitchen and wetting all our boxes that were on the floor , our van we hired didn’t get returned by the previous hire until 5pm instead of 9 am  on the Saturday morning which was a disaster as the team couldn’t put the gazebos / marquees up as planned. A lot of volunteers didn’t turn up to help which caused us a lot of worry the night before , the event is so big now it really needs a big team of committed helpers ,so we have a new facebook group already formed with the idea of providing the necessary helpers from committed people for next year .

We had an amazing entry to the fun classes 160+the ring efficiently manned  by the Blackpool and Fylde Bulldog Club judged by Yvonne Pannifer  who did a sterling job ,Bill Johnson our Steward and show manager with Abigail Finstar keeping the records .

Our 15 classes were each sponsored for their rosettes and many prizes were donated including an engraved glass for first place in each class by Hembadoon Glasswear.

We had a Best In Show ,a fancy dress winner  judged by Melanie Morley  ,and a Best Boxer judged by Marion Richardson.

Our Children’s entertainer Ben  excelled as Captain Hook , he’s a professional and it showed , he came for 2 hours at 1pm and had the  map that everyone joined in the search for treasure ! hes already booked for next year and working on the theme already !

My drop in centre and my new book did very well with a queue all day looking for answers !,The BBQ sold out of Bread , the kitchen sold out of soft drinks and water ,it was extremely busy in the catering area . We have plans in hand to help sort the queues out for this.

We had some VIP guests Jean Booth Carol and Ron Newman , Chris Thomas and Graham Godfrey ,Ron Bull in his full costume , We had David Lees and Chris Liddle in their two ball rally car raising funds for BDR and a childrens heart charity, which involves driving this bulldog car to Barcelona during the summer , we can all watch this online , wonderful idea and great fun , well done Bulldoggers !  the Sheffield bulldog club always do something different!, we had a treasure island stand from the London Bulldog Society , we are very grateful for the support of the Breed Clubs  thank you .

We had some other breeds in the showground even a beautiful St Bernard, we had a small amount of CNR but we made a point of welcoming with a view to reaching out with education to those owners not making them uncomfortable and who knows their next bulldog could be our standard one ! the main thing was Bulldog Day Uk is for everyone who loves bulldogs its 12th day was the best yet and we look forward to welcoming you all next year to our  13th one!
