I really think this is an important cause, and I'd like to encourage you to
add your signature, too. It's free and takes less than a minute of your

| June 16th
Well at last I have a minute to get myself rested up....after my visits
to Greece , Italy and Denmark I have a few months to recover before I
globe trot again to Florida to judge the sweepstakes for Tampa bay Bulldog
Club .I enjoyed doing the Bulldog Days but get a bit stressed however I
shall never stress about the weather for my Newark one again !as the weather
could not have been worse, the forecast was bad given out a couple of days
before and for once they didn't get it wrong 2 months rain fell in the one
day , it hailed , it thundered and it lightened it rained the most
torrential downpour lucky for me I had decided to take the plunge and
pay for the venue even though it was very expensive £238+VAT £273 that's a
lot to find before you start but as usual my team all came together the
Blackpool and other clubs were there ,and my friends who aren't
bulldoggers all mucked in and we had a great day.We had some VIP guests
Chris Thomas and Graham Godfrey Kingrock ,Maureeen Mortham Packapunch it was
lovely to see some well known bulldoggers of old joining us thank you so
much for coming ..it bridges the gap between all bulldog owners and the show
world .Pauline had new helper in the kitchen by Sara who worked like a
Trojan and her enchanting daughter Lily consumed a lot of cake LOL .Little
Ali was unfortunately ill so Alans new partner Natalie also worked so hard
on the BBQ ,thank you .Kimberly [My mate who previously puppy sat the
first two days was free to help and she was a star she ran around everywhere
all day and was with me from 8am ................Andrea was a floater but
did a great job wherever needed ....
Hartlepool had a great start to their Bulldog Day North the weather
was glorious and their venue a lovely country park the added advantage of
many people coming along who were just visiting the park , they could buy
food and this swelled the coffers very much ,Michelle had many helpers
friends etc and had Pets At Home Hartlepool support, the Northumberland and
Durham came and special thanks to Gail Westmoreland who doused any warm
looking bulldogs in her pool all day and we had no over hot bulldogs to
thank her for efforts. Ian the bulldog Barber and his lovely daughter
did lots of work helping out at the BBQ,it was a great success and
will be repeated same weekend next year.
I just judged the Yorkshire Bulldog Club and once again it was scorching
hot which must have put some people off travelling, my entry was 86 but 50%
were absent, my dog classes were sparse but lucky for me what was there was
quality ..the bitches classes were well filled and I had some difficult
choices to make , many bitches could have exchanged places it was lovely to
find a lot of dogs in my line up I wouldn't mind owning a judges dream, my
Best in Show and Reserve Best in Show were stunning and my reserve best
bitch was Vicky Coles Brandy[Whitecole Elegant Miss ] a Preston
daughter from a Genie Bitch , Spalfords Bailey over Ice got a Second in her
class also Preston Daughter.I really enjoyed judging, I am very positive and
quick I know but when the decisions close its difficult...........thank you
if you entered under me .
Family wise Johns Daughter and family have moved into Lincoln , they have
two bitches who they show and the children do junior handling so soon
the Bonifacio clan wlil be extended at some shows Ruby the sister to Mavis
is looking good so she should be out in the ring soon if she will behave
.Bonnie has already done some winning.
My mum is not much different we are going to take her out of the home for
three days visit to the seaside, my sister Robbies idea and Alisons
organising it I am the Driver ...
Many puppies out of my dogs around , 4 litters born and several more
expected . a few veterinary blips that have cost a few puppies survival
,including a wait from Friday to Sunday for a bitch in labour got inertia
and lost more than half her litter ,a C section of Friday might have had a
different result :-(( but we no nothing us laymen and are even told the
breeders know nothing and are unethical .
I am going to do a second edition book with some added information
for the Breeding for Beginners , when i get time to sit and do it
...............
Question and Answers at the Bulldog incorporated 28th June at
Little Hadam Hall Ware ,Herts .
Deborah gets married on the 11th July with her reception at the Theatre
Royal should be good fun ..I got my outfit now ,I wore Davids wedding
outfit to judge in Italy and The Yorkshire and it will be suitable for
Florida so I am getting my moneys worth so Johns happy as i thought he
was going to faint at the bill for the complete look....
I am now voiceless as after my judging I felt had a sore throat
coming , well its come and now I can't speak John says its bliss !!!but I
feel rotten .
June 3rd well we have missed May out ! I went to Italy it
was fabulous and to Denmark wonderful as usual . |
| April 25th OK YES i Know I am an Awful Blogger !!just
too damned busy all the time , Well my eldest son David came here with his
lovely partner Ingrid who I loved on site :-)) then we went up to Gretna
Green
where
they were married with John and I as witnesses it was fabulous and I
can highly recommend the ceremony over the anvil , we then had a reception
complete with cake and champagne toast !!
Then onthe following Thursday I made my trip at last to Athens [postponed
4 times ] !!! I showed Sissy's bitch in the show in Athens

We then had our Blackpool and Fylde Show which had our Swedish Judge
Karin Ogren and she stayed here for a couple of nights was very good
company and her friend Karin .Now we are planning our trip to Tuscany to
judge the Italian Bulldog of the Year , with 2 other judges from the UK ,
Life is hectic !! |
| March 23rd ......a slight pause in my hectic schedule
caused by Henry the shih-tzu our inherited lodger who has decided that hes
in love with Reverie who is in season, hes never been around a bitch before
and he's driven us crazy he's getting the chop before her next one 9 years +
or not. Our males are such gentlemen around the bulldog bitches in this
house as they live with them they are really good but Henry is a
contortionist and a mad rapist all rolled into one ! he was howling at 5am
this morning trying to get to Reverie so I gave up and got up ,done a
lot of paperwork though !. Well last week we had the KC meeting it went
quite well with some of our points and reasoned arguments understood .but it
will be a good while before we know how much of the Breed standards original
wording will be reinstated .My fellow negotiators and I worked so well as a
team feedback was our presentation was well received.
Now my planning skills are directed to Bulldog Day UK North
May 31st and Midlands June 7th its going to be hectic doing both but
should be all in place after one to run the next one ,Volunteers are needed
for the Newark one , helpers to man things and to take the entrance money
etc etc ,the website will be up and running this week if all goes well .
Still have Lincoln for sale , two people were interested one can't
afford him and its not just me that has a say in his price hes already very
reasonably priced but I need him to go and get used to a new family as here
he's in the pack ,he's a lovely boy .
My mum is having a bright spell, she looks so thin and wan but is smiling
and seemed to know it was Mothers Day,and I got two of my children, James
and Kezia ,plus grandchildren 5 of them ! to go out for lunch with and
a lovely time was had and David my eldest son is expected up here this next
weekend for the first time with his new partner ...so family time is good
.My sister Alison came with us for our meal and one of the nicest things to
come out of this sad time is that we seem to be appreciative of the family
,meeting up more and talking more ......
Deborah my step daughter is getting married in July and holding her
reception at the theatre as that's where she met her fiancé years ago ......
she has always been extremely kind to me and has included me in the
choosing of her wedding dress and bridesmaids things ,and I am enjoying
playing a role in her wedding plans .
Now follows a very busy time next weekend I am going to see Sissy in
Athens this is the 4th attempt to get there and each time I have had
to cancel it but this time I hope I can go there! there is a two day
dog show in Athens I hope to get to see some of it .Then I have the
Swedish Judge coming to stay for the weekend she is judging the Blackpool
and Fylde Club show ,then to Italy for Bulldog of the Year followed by
Bulldog day in Denmark........then our two bulldog days here and my
own Breed Club Open Show appointment .....after that there is a lull !
so I may be a bad blogger as usual for a few weeks , |
| March 9th ......exhausted very busy weekend
,All dogs are well , we have Lincoln still to sell as he has been returned
due to the owners personal situation [not Lincolns fault ] Made 3 trips to
Cruft's did Discover dogs with the Blackpool Breed Club ,took Preston
Reverie and Genie , who didn't let the breed down remained super calm
all day no panting or looking stressed how I wished someone would come up to
the stand and try to make out they were not healthy would I have enjoyed
putting them, right .to say this bad publicity is so rife the people were
just as crazy over the Bulldog as ever several people kept coming back all
day.I had a leaflet printed for all the Clubs to hand out and it was also
put in the Press Office it was frequently asked questions about the Bulldog
, I handed out at least 150 so some people will have all the answers about
our breed
|
| February 12th ,Frozen solid lake .......ice
everywhere
Well first of all I want you all to read Tanias blog on the latest
news on the RSPCA report too
http://www.bulldogrescue.co.uk/blog.htm
I got this report at 6.am in the morning printed it off and studied it
,its supposed to be scientific but I can honestly say there is
absolutely no new information relavant to the bulldog in it It
continuously refers to the English Bulldog as we all know our dog in
this country is just the BULLDOG and it proves that the references they are
using are from other countries where its listed as ENGLISH BULLDOG , USA ,
and FCI countries,It has everything referenced it mentions and I followed
the references and found old hearsay in most of them nothing based on
actual fact.I knew when the RSPCA woman at on the radio interview said
to me 'we have Rucks of information which proves how unhealthy the bulldog
is that they had no such thing because the Kennel clubs survey didn't
enough dogs participated in it to draw accurate conclusions ,which
they themselves admit on the first page of the summary , John
and I did the most recent breed survey and we knew no OTHER
SUBSTANTIATED INFORMATION was available ..
This should be challenged strongly by our breed and others that are
probably seething too , it contradicts itself everywhere claiming the
bulldog has the most hereditary defects but quoted that the Labrador has
almost double.........
The Kennel Club has given a good press release on it and has firmly
told them they have no intention of banning any breeds......which they
suggest about the bulldog ..and also no further action in the line breeding
of pedigrees as they recently declined to register mother son father
daughter and full sibling matings ,the RSPCA are calling for more matings to
be banned , this would be a disaster to most breeds .........
The Mating Cradle strongly disapproved of sold by a person I will
not give advertising to is also quoted , This man is not an experienced
bulldogger does not represent the feelings of Bulldog Breeders in this
country ,is a total loner and I cannot understand why the film company PP
and the RSPCA are even giving him the time of day he is not a
bulldogger of repute his opinions are his own .......I cannot understand
why one man who has no kudos in the breed is being quoted as
though hes 'someone of knowledge ' ahh wake up and eat your cornflakes .RSPCA
and PP you have been duped !!!!
As far as RSPCA goes I have been trying to get the figures of the PTS and
its hard to get as they are fudged with other animals , but I cannot
get a breakdown of the pedigree dogs versus crossbreeds .I think this
is because pedigree dogs get adopted at higher adoption fees than the cross
breeds who make up the majority of PTS but I want the figures to prove this
.maybe I should just publish a Scientific report trawled from the internet
and challenge them ,why are the vets and the Rspca encouraging
crossbreeding when those make up the majority of dogs long term in
shelters........and I strongly dispute them as being healthier because they
have no data on them as which breed from the 57 varieties would one say
various illnesses are from....it was stated by Passionate Productions that
cancer and Epilepsy are results of inbreeding and pedigree matings so how
come the human population who do not do those 'matings ' are plagued with
these problems .......?
Well Joni is growing great,Lola the Chi is fabulous ,al the rest of the
dogs are doing fine ,Mavis is looking promising....
My poor Mum is not doing so well after a fall at the home shes looking so
bruised and my sister reports she is very vague and out of it ....am going
to see her today ...life is still hectic .. |
| February 8th ,Snowing like
crazy.................again..... Mum has fallen in the home and looks like
she did several rounds with Tyson..........we managed to visit her yesterday
and I am pleased as the roads will be bad again .Tracey contacted the
Lincolnshire Echo and we did a photo shoot and an interview
http://www.thisislincolnshire.co.uk/news/Shaping-change-British-icon/article-675533detail/article.html.Linc
the last puppy of mine left here yesterday ,but I have a little Preston look
alike belonging to Kim to sell for her hes very cute will be a great
puppy for someone who may want some showing fun with one .Joni is looking
very good now ,and is cute but rather fat at the moment !
NEW Book Now out £32 its a big book ! DOG
BREEDING AND WHELPING |
| JANUARY 18TH
I am speechless rarely happens! the furore this week over the bulldog has
raised everyone's temperature from full support to abuse we bulldoggers have
had it all,two radio interviews , both hard work but didn't lose my
patience. This Breed has survives 200 + years in its present form, the
standard is older than the Kennel Club, was the worlds first written up
blueprint for any breed anywhere , ok I forgot its another piece of English
heritage we are being coerced into losing under several
subversive guises .The RSPCA has very little to do or knowledge
in the bulldogs welfare , when they get one in the sell it with a large
adoption fee , because they can use it to raise money but they are not
mentioning the thousands of destroyed dogs of cross breeds they put down
everyday , because they can't get adopters for those , why encourage more
crossbreeding ? its a none sense they are healthier and temperament is
an unknown ..........and the RSPCA has made lots of money from dog lovers
like myself at Companion Dog Shows countrywide ,AND I didn't know until this
week that the spokesperson on the TV for the RSPCA is a celebrity
personality dabbling in many areas of interest , how come he has
suddenly enough time or inside knowledge on pedigree dog breeding!!
http://www.markevans.co.uk/ he's
made a career of presenting on TV and knows how to manipulate public
feeling ......so whatever he states one can wonder if his passion is real or
acting ? well this is a bit of a real thoughts blog !I better close as I
could ramble and rant on in my fury all night .MY DOGS CAN ALL RUN AND THE
OLDEST ONE HERE IS 10 YEARS OLD NOW , I JUST LOST SAM AT 11+ AND DEEDEE WAS
13 ...........COME ON PEOPLE FIGHT FOR THE DOG WE LOVE ! |
| January 12th
Well I am online for a change my server has been playing up terribly but
they seem to have sorted it , after much moaning about their service for the
last 6 weeks, lots to tell you, John got his Chihuahua bitch for his
birthday , she is 11 weeks old and called Lola will put some photos of her
on the website soon ,I love her .
The littlest bulldog bitch is 4 weeks old on Wednesday and doing
well now eating from a bowl and no longer bottled or tubed she has never
been ill just has had no mothers milk so we are happy with her she is
staying and is named in French [as shes a Bonifacio] ,Joan of Ark so
she is Joan, and the brindle bitch from Reverie is called Mavis ! she is
staying too so we have 3 new members of the household now to start 2009 with
.
The red dog and bitch left this weekend and I have some interest in the
brindle boys , they are all very promising, they a 9 weks and 2 days old and
i like them to go to their new homes now ideally as they settle in very well
at this age .
My Boys are doing well with their studs I have several litters
scanned and not yet born in several places around the country watch
the website for more news on them .
On a sad note my mum is not doing so well in the nursing home and we
suspect she has had another brain bleed ,she has lost weight and is sleeping
alot again ,very upsetting .and more stress . |
| December 29th
Christmas came and went with a very mixed batch of feelings and
happenings, our friend Dianne was involved in a terrible accident on the
Saturday before Christmas , was driving and her boyfriend and his best
friend were killed , she was in the hospital flat on her back and we visited
her on Monday when we found out about it and again on Christmas day in the
evening .It made me extra wary driving as I felt that in a split second any
of us could have this accident sort of being in the wrong place at the wrong
time, years ago my first husband taught me to drive and said quite wisely
its not you but you should treat everyone else as unpredictable, try not to
anticipate what people should do as if you are alert and wondering you might
avoid an accident ,I have been driving 30 years and have never forgotten
that .
Christmas Eve I visited Mum in the home , and had a meal with my sister,
I took out the stitches from a bitch who has puppies from our dog and ended
up at Kezia's with the grandchildren who had brand new Santa hats and PJs.I
had the little puppy with me in her incubator with a hot water bottle in it
till I could re plug it in .
Missed Dad , kept thinking of things I must tell him ,strange not being
able to do so .
I had a super Xmas Lunch cooked by Johns daughter ,and puppy came too[in
her incubator ] we then have had a steady stream of visitors and very
enjoyable company although today trying to cook a Sunday lunch
for 9 with 7 puppies nibbling at your toes is not to be recommended.
There is a meeting to discuss the KC letter on Tuesday in Leicester ..so
we have puppy sitters as they are a real handful now .
My next book is going to press its a general Dog Breeding book
suitable for all breeds but info on difficult breeds that need TLC |
| December 22nd
Well last Wednesday Winnie was scanned and was having a phantom so
no puppies from her ! Lady was in slow labour and we had her to the vets
.,someone up there must have been looking after me because she had 1 live
bitch puppy and 1 decomposing pup , the little girl was taking on water and
was very hard to get going, which in retrospect I think was due to the time
lag between her mum going to sleep and getting her out , the only time I
have ever seen such a 'flat unresponsive puppy was anaesthesia problem , so
I was desperate to get her home and warm, I got to use the special care unit
that Gail and Matt bought me for saving their puppies its got a special
attachment and I was able to use the oxygen in the first 30 minutes and
she picked up as soon as she got properly warm. She weighed 11.9 oz but a
lot of that was water , she went down to 8.3oz and I gave up trying to feed
her on Lady and started tubing her , today she has gained and is well past
her birth weight ! hooray !
She now looks like a bulldog all water gone and she has a lovely wide 'Bonifacio'
foreface !she is not going anywhere if she survives ..is not for sale
.The other puppies are brilliant and there is not a 1 that I feel will not
have a chance to go to the show ring all are so uniform and lovely ....I
have 3 boys to sell ready to leave early January
|
| December 14th , a whole month has gone by and
I seem to have lost it ,My puppies are super and are now 5 weeks and 1` day
old ,3 girls and 4 boys great ! My Dads funeral took place without a
hitch except John got lost and missed the Crem service , I determinedly read
the reading for Dad,from Pauls Letter to the Corinthians a favourite of mine
and one I read at assembly when I was young and parents were proud of me so
it made it important to me to do that last thing for Dad .His ashes
were interred in Belper Cemetery last Wednesday with my two
sisters and two of our daughters and my great nephew , we ate at a
local restaurant and made the very best of a bad day I can honestly
say the meal was the most comfortable and we all felt very close , we plan
to do it next December ,and made a pact we might do it at our birthdays
too.Dads resting place is overlooking open countryside which he loved,
so on a frosty but sunny afternoon we said our final farewell xxx RIP
Dad .
John and I went to the Nationals at Philadelphia it was as
usual very good fun and extremely interesting some seminars and some
discussion ,had great fun with my old and dear friends who helped me get
thru some awkward days where I seemed to be suffering from anxiety ,it is
early days to cope with our loss and the worry of the last few months and
probably the last 5 years of worry over my parents ..mum is in the
nursing home now and they seem to be looking after her very well she
doesn't really show whether she understands Dad has gone now so we dont know
how shes feeling as she doesn't speak this is really hard for us all ..
Christmas is almost upon us and I am expecting Lady to produce her last
litter any time now or from about Wednesday ,She is refusing to eat
which I hate and my kitchen has dishes with all sorts of food opened
to try and get her eating ! we have a maternity wing [Dining Room ] which is
where Lady is and a nursery [Kitchen ] where Reveries babies are now living.
its all organised and the house is never left without someone sitting
as we always watch our puppies 24/7 .
BAD NEWS the Kennel Club has rewritten huge chunks of the Bulldog
Standard removing some of the most descriptive words and now no longer want
us to refer to the Roach Back want heavier hindquarters and change the
position of the facial bones in other words making it look not like a
bulldog .We voted at Breed Council NOT TO Accept this interim
standard which they are trying to foist upon us from January 1st
Please join your local breed club and help us save the
bulldog as it is BRITAIN'S ICON
|
| November 15th Reverie scared me thought she had eclampsia
but we averted it ,she is ok . Its a very difficult time I cannot
see my mum as its too far to go and to get back in between the feeds. My
sisters are constantly on the phone. We are supporting each other and the
funeral is on Tuesday we are worried as to how my mum will cope or
understand , the obituary notice is in the paper
http://announce.jpress.co.uk/1309134,it we loved our Dad ,I have
made the order of service leaflets myself, it all seems a bit unreal and the
only bright spot are the puppies who are depending on me ,one finds out who
ones friends really are at a time like this, I don't feel much like talking
but companionable silence is good !ageing is sad and every day that
passes I realize how fragile life is and how we should grasp it in
both hands before it slips away ....... |
November the 8th Puppies born total shock expecting 2 to 4 ............well
not counting my puppies before they are grown but WOW......all weigh about 11 oz
very uniform and alike its probably just in time to save my sanity !!
| November 6th
Reverie is restless.....me too I have had a hard day I am worried about
my mum and wish I knew how much she understands ,complications and emotions
running high |
| November 5th
I got the call and drove the two hour journey to the
nursing home and was in time with my two sisters to hold our Dad as he left
this world. Poor Mum doesn't understand and showing her Dad and getting her
to say goodbye after 58 years of marriage was one of the hardest things to
do in my life I am so drained I cannot express how I feel .
Reverie is still eating and large so soon I will be extra busy
........ |
| November 1st
Remember the Queen saying she had an annibilus horribilus
[spelt wrongly !!] well my sisters and I just had a 10 day one!!! my
parents have had to go in a nursing home we just could not cope with their
care any longer safely and the nursing home across the road had a double
room so they are in there together, its still awful ,dad hardly conscious
and mum is scared but we reached a point where we knew we couldn't
care at home any longer .We set up the Dvd and Tv in their room and i bought
an old black and white musical with Fred Astaire and Ginger Rodgers and mum
and i sat together this afternoon and watched it as someone told me
that the things in the past are still vivid to her and she enjoyed it , Dad
lay there out of it but probably listened to the Gershwin music .....besides
that we have added family troubles so i don't know whether to cry or scream
.
BUT REVERIE IS GETTING VERY BIG !!! but i inherited a 8 year old Shihtzu
male who is spoilt rotten and never left grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrbut i have
to take him to visit mum each time i go but Reverie likes him, thank god
\\\\\\\\!so hes allowed in the maternity wing ! |
| October 25th 7am Saturday Dad rallied around but now is
just stable has hallucinations and cannot be left at all it looks like i
will be sleeping there quite a few nights, mum doesn't understand ,I have
Reverie and Preston with me ,because she is really needing attention she is
7weeks plus now and loves me to bits just wants to be where I am . I don't
know how long this is going to go on for :<(( |
| October 16th Thursday
Very difficult Blog to write ,I should be in Greece with Sissy
tonight I was really looking forward to a last bit of sun and fun with one
of my dearest friends but it was not to be. On Sunday my Dad who is on
oxygen 24/7 and has been ill for a long time , took a turn for the worst,
and I dare not risk being out of the country after the Dr told me there is
nothing more they can do for him, my Mum has Vascular Dementia and cannot be
left alone so this has a terrible consequence, she needs full time nursing
and they had made a pact to stay together and to be at home , my sister has
been there but now its my turn to go to stay at the house and sleep in until
they have some night sitter that can help out ,although my Dad has
been ill for such a long time and one knows that the inevitable will happen
you think you have prepared yourself for it but its still a sickening shock
when you know its happening. I suppose one can't ever be prepared to say
goodbye to your parents ,while you grow up and during your lifetime they are
always there and there is never enough time to tell them how much they mean
to you.I have always been close to my dad as he has been the one who
nurtured my love of animals being a farmer and also a dog breeder over the
years , owning bulldogs in the 1960s,he recently bought Jacque with me and
has followed Jacques wins with great interest, and his rosettes have pride of
place on their fireplace he was so proud when Jacque won the Puppy
Competition at the Yorkshire .So with a heavy heart I am going to the
house tomorrow .
Hug your own Mum and Dad extra hard next time you see them xx
Reverie is Expecting mid November .....vet saw 3 puppies on the
scan. |
| October 9th Thursday No excuses for lack of Blog just no
time !
I had an unexpected visitor in my new incubator on Sunday a poor little
baby born too early and far too small, I tried hard to save her but on
Monday teatime she started to cry and nothing I could do for her could stop
it ,as I have said before in my book and on the tube feeding advice leaflet
its not possible to save them all and she was suffering so my dear vet
Annick PTS at 8pm, I was very sad and I buried her on the lakeside bank and
put a primrose on top ,she didn't have much of a chance at only 4 ozs
she has a brother who is hanging on by a thread , she was one of 4 ,1 dead
at birth , sister at 3ozs dead at 12 hours and herself at 4ozs and the boy
who is still with his mum at 6 ozs but is not doing too well, the owners are
lovely people and were so excited at the litter ,but they have bred before
so have experience .very sad all round .
you know how big an infacol bottle is
Sadly The Little boy left with his mum also passed away he was named
Paddy RIP little babies
|
| 15th September Monday My Darling Sam our old rescue has
had to be PTS due to chronic ear troubles which have plagued him all the
time we have had him,the antibiotics failed to work and hes was in
agony we couldn't even touch his head and at almost 11 we couldn't put
him through the most invasive surgery necessary to ease his pain, on
veterinary advice I decided the kindest thing for Sam was to let him
go,but it has devasted me as I loved him dearly like one of our own ,he took
my dearest Joshuas place on the sofa by me and eased that pain and now once
again its empty ,Run free Sammy at Rainbow Bridge ,maybe you can find your
old owner waiting for you if not wait for me xxxx
will miss you Sammy xxx |
| September 8th Monday
Well still am a bad blogger..........nothing new
there then lol ......had a good bulldog rescue picnic, despite the weather
trying to drown us all ! always love to spend time with Tania and Dizzy
and look forward to the times when we can chat and catch up even if Dizzy
was addicted to Big Brother and made us sit through the final! lol
After the picnic the weekend went into
sharp decline. We went to Richmond and were knee deep in mud as were our
beautifully bathed and groomed show dogs , i felt very disappointed that the
judge after her initial interest in Jacque just passed us over and
positioned her first pull outs in front of us and could not see us anymore !
several of my friends also were very disappointed in the judging of their
dogs too .The final straw was one dog placed had such a weak back end it
kept sitting down and stumbled on the move ......i was not a good
loser............in fact i was in a right mood !everyone ran for cover and
John even conceded I had reason to be annoyed and he took Preston in as i
didn't want to get knocked yet again .He got VHc[5th].............
I have been seriously depressed about the show
scene since the Leeds show, I really wonder why we do it at all ,never
mind exposing the pedigree dogs what about a programme on the masochistic
tendencies of exhibitors , paying good money to be dumped !
Politics were rife at that show we all knew the
result of one CC before we left home how bad is that and how daft we were to
support the entry ,I used to think a good dog will win through the old
timers are very good at spouting that at everyone .Rubbish ! and that's my
final word on the subject .
However I am very proud of our dogs all my dogs
here have either been shown or are of show quality we don't breed from any
that we wouldn't take in the ring ourselves our foreign visitors always
say we have quality dogs and we have a waiting list of people wanting
puppies abroad but i will not send anything at 9 weeks thinking it might be
promising .......so we rarely export but my ones to the USA did quite
well in the ring 12 years ago ...................and of course I do co own
an American Champion .....
So Its not all bad LOL
Personally it is parents still very
ill.................family troubles ..ect.................

| August 26th Tuesday
..........yes I know I'm a terrible Blogger, I am just so busy all the time
.I reared Carls puppies and we sold them all as soon as they had their
injections,2 are living in Lincoln and I like that very much ,1 in
Merseyside the other in Canary Wharf ......
Preston is still much in demand and also Artemus
has sired 3 litters now ....Recently Artie has sired 6 ,3 girls 3 boys
looking good so far .
In the past few weeks there has been a
film shown on tv from Passionate Productions it was an expose' film on
pedigree dog breeding, in October 2006 they made contact with me and
as they told me it was a serious film on canine evolution I helped them and
gave them several introductions to important people with good knowledge of
the breed and when the Kennel Club issued a statement disassociating
themselves with this film i panicked and thought they were about to do
a hatchet job on the bulldog ...we were barely mentioned for a change
probably because we have been active in health issues and we didn't make
sensationalist news .....the statement i have made about it is linked from
my main page. I have every sympathy for the Kennel Club who do try
their best they were made to look total idiots .I spent hours on the phone
discussing this with them and other breeders and members of the health
committee expecting to have to defend the breed we didn't in the end.I do
feel for the breeders in the breeds that were featured as I know many
committed breeders are doing their best to rid their breeds of illness
but no acknowledgement was made of that .
I have been printing a small new magazine for
the rescue ,its not very big but 100 copies of 24 pages has taken a lot of
time .
Dr Batty has written and published a new book
about the bulldogs violent history ,although I don't go along with all his
train of thought I enjoyed his theories and the illustrations definitely one
for the collectors its going to be on sale from my web page soon ....
Yesterday we took Jacque to the Yorkshire
Silver Rose Puppy Competition and he won it has a fabulous rosette and a
bulldog horse brass , these are going to my Dads house as he co owns Jacque
with me....hes very proud at this show were 4 of Gail and Matts
puppies ,it was lovely to see them lined up in the puppy walk they all look
like chips off the old block Preston !
Next shows for Jacque are Championship Shows
so watch this space to see how he does.

| June 4th
Well !!!!!Bulldog Day UK was a stomping
success again and already we are being asked about next year , we have had a
suggestion we take it up north next year and then do Nottingham again the
year afterwards , no decisions have been made , but the preparation and
planning is a huge task I started in February and the actual programme
took 2 weeks to print as I was just using an Epson Inkjet .and of course I
have puppies to see to so I need to think about the time
it takes .......I know that the people learnt alot .we raised over £1,000
final figure not yet in |
| May 28th
I am rubbish at daily or even weekly blogs.......
just far too busy , I am in the throes of doing the Bulldog Day
preparations ,so have been printing day and night 100 programmes for
sale on the day at £1 each , they will be available from the website if you
send a stamped addressed envelope if you can't make it and want to see what
happened and see the adverts from our supporters watch afterwards on
the photos page .
Carl and I have a litter of puppies
between us they are doing fine there is going to be a boy who is looking
like Artemus for sale hes only young yet but if anyone is looking for
a strikingly marked dark brindle and white dog this may be your lucky day !
a white girl and and a brindle girl will also be available but we are not
counting our chickens until hatched !contact me privately 07752912122 |
| April 26th Those puppies are racing away now growing
fast 01522 697451 this is the phone number there are 4 boys to sell
and these puppies are so socialised they are great , they are being reared
with such care and love I have to tell you they are for sale as I know Gail
will keep them all if she could but they are really well worth a look
at , they can be seen on the special puppies link from my home page . I
have had a very busy week Tess has now gone to live with Jackie [and
Lizzie the harelip puppy who is now huge !]Tess did not turn out a good
breeding prospect so has gone for free with no papers to a friend who has
now had 3 bulldogs from me !She will never be bred as we thought she had no
neck and didn't breath as quietly as we like our dogs to do.
As you probably realise breeding for healthy puppies is not without its
heartbreak I hate parting with any of my keepers but if the correct home
comes along I feel Tess will have a great home with lots more individual
attention than she will get here as one of the 'pack' so my feelings aside
she is now settling in in Huddersfield .Funny thats where Disney lives too !
We have bought back Winnie from the litter Tess was from so we can
continue with Johns unbroken bitch line which now is in its 9th generation ,
not many breeders have got a line like that !
We have mated several dogs this last few weeks so there should be puppies
from our dogs around soon again.
We had a great week looking at the offspring from our dogs,a boy from
Manchester , a boy and girl in Wragby and last night we had a great
visit from Vicky Cole and her partner Phil and Maddi her bitch puppy from
Preston whom she is starting to show, we were very pleased with her as she
is from a bitch out of our Bonifacio Genie and mated to Preston so it was
nice to see she has inherited some very good breed points, she has an
excellent topline and super tail , Preston seems to throw quite good tails
even on tight tailed bitches ,she has his topline too which is correct
.. good luck Vicky we think you could have some fun with her ! |
| Well April 20th .............the puppies went home on
Thursday and are doing well they are now weaned onto a plate and the owner
can cope ok ..and at last I can sleep . Plans for Bulldog Day are Now
occupying my time and thoughts and ofcourse my parents are still requiring
much help ...............June 1st Tollerton Nr Nottingham sees every one who
loves bulldogs getting together and a learning fun day will be had by all
!mated 2 bitches but don't know if they are in whelp yet.
More Bitches mated to our dogs watch for details as they are born added
to my website............... |
| Well its now March 29th and I am puppy
watching 2 prem puppies who are out of Preston,we got back from a week
in Tenerife to find that all 6 were being kept alive by Tracy and Kim who
were tubing them and the bitch had no milk coming through , thats sorted now
and 4 are back on mum but i still have these two here . My news is I
bought Madonbulls Jack Flash avec Kezia , so we have a new white bulldog
male to add to our stud team, he has a great pedigree too so watch the
stud space as he will be added when he is older ..I am training him and co
own him with my parents who are looking forward to his progress and he
accompanies me to their house every visit which they are looking
forward to very much .Photos will follow soon for now hes a cute puppy
13 weeks old and a bundle of fun !
More bitches are mated to our dogs watch the website for any available
puppies as they are born and reared |
| February 23rd 2008
Things are very hectic here ,we expect Crufts visitors Jay Serion and his
wife , we are visiting several kennels and there are the two
shows in that week our dog sitter will be moving in !
Personally things look black my parents are still in a bad state
and the new caring agency although stated well have deteriorated
rapidly the latest carer trained in Cell Block H and nearly came to
blows with my sister yesterday ,this means more trips to them and less time
for the dogs ......i don't know if I can breed at present as if I do, if
anything goes wrong like last time [Effy died leaving 6 puppies ] this would
mean I couldn't leave them to go to mum and dads .grrrrrrrrrrrrrr difficult
decision .
I have some good news soon but am keeping it under wraps at present watch
this space .................
|
| February 16th 2008 We
judged last weekend at the Leigh Canine Society in Lancashire ,we
had some lovely dogs and John did Bulldogs this time,we were lucky we had no
absentees in Bulldogs and a good quality of entries.I did French
Bulldogs Lhasa's and Akita's most of our winners got group placing so
we were pleased the BIS judge liked the dogs we sent through to the group.
I have been visiting the white puppies and am'hanging my nose over
one' which my gran would have said :-))I had a photo session with Artemus
and Preston in the garden on a lovely sunny day see the photos on the Stud
website Genie
in Box Productions, parents still very ill so life is hectic ,we are
planning a trip for an American visitor, and I booked my bargain [£53
return] air ticket to the Danish shows in May .........
|
| February2nd Saturday 2008 Visited Paddy and his brothers
,they are really stunning puppies....
Judged at Rugby Canine and District Open Show , had a great day and I
already put up photos and critique while it was fresh in my mind, very
nice people chatted lots afterwards, and really good surprise was the
puppies from last years Orphan litter owners came to see me he's so thrilled
with his two pups he's going to show them at the East Midlands Bulldog
Club in March which will be very nice for us to get to see them .
Artemus mated Tina on Thursday and will be doing so again tomorrow
, that was an excellent first time mating he is a good boy!
Puppies due from Preston about now....... waiting to hear |
| January 26th Saturday 2008 Lots happening still I have
been to see Paddy the little one I had as a lodger and hes doing fine,I am
so fond of this puppy I hope he turns out the best for showing as I will be
happy to watch his progress!if he stays with Andrea who is besotted with all
three ! they are having the very best of rearing.
Preston's litter of 11 are super we went to look at them last week, the
one Karen is keeping is looking very promising ,amazingly she has only 3
dogs left to sell I was worried she would have a hard time selling 11 but
everyone who has seen them wanted one !
Tracey from Spalfords bulldogs has kept a very nice bitch from Preston
called Spalford's Baileys over Ice she has attitude and Tracy is
looking forward to showing her if all goes well ,Kimberley's bitch
Tina is in season and so they are going to use Artemus as his proving
litter,I have checked he's firing on all cylinders and a very impressive
high density and fully mobile sample has been collected so its all go next
week for Arty
Artemus pedigree is the most interesting one I have here as hes got some
super dogs on it , see the link from the index page ,he will match many
lines as hes got several line breedings in his back pedigree, but ofcourse
he may throw brindle as well as the other colours,I used not to like Brindle
but I am very very thrilled with the depth of colour my brindle bitch
Reverie and Artemus have..its so rich and dark.
All of my males have the most superb temperaments so laid back and
real gentlemen at mating time,in fact I think i find my boys are so very
affectionate I would highly reccomend males as pets , as mine are so
faithful .
Seminar is being worked on to rear and save problem Bulldog puppies
,contact me for more details |
| January 11th 2008 Hectic again !!
Litter of 11 born from Preston all surviving aged 5 weeks now
contact details on the homepage ...............4 more litters maybe around
if the bitches take
Happy New Year everyone, I had a bad Christmas as I got the dreaded
flu bug and spent most of it being ill !
I made friends with a young couple who live near the Humber bridge, they
have had their first litter of 3 puppies from Inger from Sweden's male
Arthur ,I have had one of these puppies to stay for 48 hours whilst I tubed
him to save his life as he had a throat infection which had stopped him
feeding. I really put intensive nursing on him and in 48 hours he was well
enough to return to his mum and litter mates, this was so great as the vet
of the owners had told them to give up on him !my own vet bless her[Annick
Sackx] was willing to give me a hand to turn him around. Its great when you
have a vet who will help and listen to you this is definitely the secret of
successful breeding............so make sure your vets working with you if
anyone else tells me about young females fresh out of vets school saying
bulldogs shouldn't be bred I shall scream !
We have Preston and Artemus entered for Crufts but Reverie may be bred by
then so we aren't taking her .
My friend Sissy from Greece will be judging the Blackpool and Fylde Show
in April 6th come along , enter your dog and meet her !or just come and
watch details from
www.blackpoolandfyldebulldogclub.co.uk

another big gap sorry life is hectic !
Well lot's happening as usual, Puppies from
our dogs, looking super , several really promising ones ,Spalfords and
Whitecole are both keeping bitches to show .
Took Artemus to The British Bulldog
Championship show where he came 3rd in Minor Puppy Dog and qualified
for Crufts at his first show, there are two more litters coming from
Preston,1 has 2 dogs the other has yet to be born but scanned for a large
litter so fingers crossed for that bitch .
Family problems my parents have
health issues so I am not able to spend as much time writing at the
moment .Sam[our rescue ] had a type of stroke Vestibular disease and
is making a slow recovery ,we are treasuring everyday with him .The proofs
have come for the next book but it needs several adjustments .
See my photos from my USA trip online

| September 23rd , I am not
very good at daily Blogs am I?
Such a lot has happened in the last few
weeks and I am still to busy to record it all .We took Artemus to the
Yorkshire where he performed like a pro he was too young to compete but he
got his puppy walk Rosette.we met up with several puppies out of Preston and
Genie which was lovely , I met with several people who had asked for breed
advice and it was a very enjoyable day out .oh not forgetting meeting Disney
who was a very good boy and i enjoyed spending time with Nichole , James,
Jasmin and James Junior .
The Next day we flew to Athens as guests of
Sissy Adramitli our dear friend who has stayed with us very often in the Uk
, we had a lovely four days holiday and then the problems kicked in Sissy
had 14 puppies in two litters 9/16 weeks old all got a very bad strain of
kenned cough.by Sunday she got ill herself and was rushed into Athens
hospital with suspected Apendicitus......ekkkkkkkk that left John and I dog
sitting with Jarek her partner, 3 puppies came into my intensive care area
on the veranda because they developed pneumonia ....aggressive antibiotic
treatment and steaming saved 2 but after a fight lost 1, John came home
alone as I couldn't leave with Sissy in Hospital, and I stayed until
Saturday , Sissy was home and they were gradually improving..I would have
stayed longer but I am due to go to the Usa for the Nationals on the 29th
September till October 16th so I had to come home .
My parents are so ill at the moment that my
head is not clear to do much else than worry about them.I have attended some
more seminars for college lecturers in readiness for my workshop on November
10th , Puppy Rearing [anyone can enrol via Lincolnshire Lifelong learning
Programme ]
I may not post again until after my USA
trip but if you need a word you can e mail me and I shall look
out for the emails on my laptop... |
| August 19th I
judged at Bolton Town yesterday , nice show not many dogs but all were
quality , I was very sorry to hear someone got caught up in traffic and
missed the class after a 3 hour journey ,I hope you know that it
wasn't possible to move you into another class and that was Kennel Club
rules .So thank you for making an effort to come to be judged by me I
take it as a compliment . I
should have taken Preston to Wales today under Chris Thomas , I just could
not make the journey, i have severe neck and leg pain the damp weather
really does play havoc with it .
I had a very busy week too as I am
teaching in Adult Further Education in the Autumn , the first one is on
November 10th there is a workshop on Puppy Rearing in Lincoln , I had
to attend an induction course at Spalding , I also went to London last
Wednesday .
Artemus went to our local Pets at Home
and outside Morrisions where he was much admired by many passers by
,he needs socialising , and I discovered he is crazy about people of all
ages and sizes but hates the noises of trolleys, cars and motor bikes .he is
going to the Yorkshire Puppy walk next Monday
|
|
| August 14th
Some swine has broken into our garage
and stolen tins of dog food about £50 worth of Pedigree chum in Jelly if you
get offered that cheap let me know!
they also stole £150 worth of electrical
garden tools and even emptied my freezer .I hope some of it poisons them as
some had been in a long time !
I am seriously thinking of getting a very big dog to have outside.........Dourge
de Bordoux or some such.........whose job will be to guard
us.............. |
|
| August 6th
2007 Disney has gone back to
his new home with James and Nichole,he seemed to enjoy his stay
here whilst they went away but has settled back onto his sofa like hes never
been anywhere else.
Ellen [Kezias Engaging Elle ] is over 11
and is here while her family go away for 4 weeks + she is very short sighted
and doesn't do much except sleep eat and poop but is content enough , she
has lived with Jackie about 6 years now and has the little hare lip pup
Lizzie from last year as her companion. She was too old for Kennels so she
is back with me her original Mum and we are enjoying getting to know one
another again ,Ellen was the cute puppy on my very first website on my
shoulder ,its strange looking at her now and thinking of how she was as a
baby.I am pleased with the lifespan of that litter ,Joshua Had a
Stroke last year which caused him to have to be put to sleep but he was
quite active until the last, litter brother Issac lived to about the
same time as Josh and here is Ellen going strong.........
Minnies photo got put on the cover of
Camino Books Champion 2007 , she is not a champion but they loved the photo
and as I gathered up a lot of champion photos for them and both John and I
have written articles for it , it was nice to see her on the front !
My book sales are doing well, steady and
I did get spotted at the local market ! fame atlast :-))
I am writing seriously now most days and
I carry a small note book which I scribble frantically when I remember
something I want to put down ,I have had to refresh alot of what I learnt
previously about Genetics and I am finding things out I had not even thought
about before ,looking at breeding from an all breeds perspective .
Not many shows coming up for me as I am
just too busy. |
| August the 1st
Well so much for a daily Blog I ran out
of time !!all five Orphan puppies survived, I kept Tess a little fawn and
white Girl she is now 16 weeks old,I had a singleton brindle and white
boy from my friend Carls bitch Della, he is here and hes 11 weeks old his
name is Artemus and I intend to run him on and will post photos soon
........I have not even had much time to go to the shows I have only
been to two in the last few weeks .Our Bulldog Day UK was a great success
and will be repeated in May next year.
Will try to write a bit more often, but
I am in the middle of doing a new book for all breeds and its taking
every spare minute ..........
|
| April 21 Saturday .they are 2
weeks old now, I have lost a girl with a chest infection and now several
have runny noses they are putting weight on fine though ,so I am
hopeful. |
| April
Sunday 15th ...everything going ok I wish the puppies would
put some weight on they look a bit scraggy to me , they already have
blacked out noses and muzzles....but they are pooping normally now and
they are a good healthy pink on their little feet and face and inside
their mouths ..just got to keep them going till i can put some solid
food into them ...they were a bit too hot today so I will have to think
about putting the ice pack in for them to cool themselves down on if the
weather keeps being this warm , Johns house is very well insulated but
is very warm even in winter so it felt tropical today in here ....I got
lots of web work done on here so I guess I am not as tired as I was ...
even surfed e bay ..and made some more plans for the Bulldog Day Uk in
May
|
April Friday the 13th ...oh well its actually
going bit better , Beth Handricks[Wimsey] chart of milk in
relation to puppy weight has been sent to me by Cati , and I
definately was over feeding .....so its settling down a bit even
though I am tired we had a very nice evening as Natalie from
Chesterfield came around, and Tracey and KIm too My first
copies of my book had arrived , I taught Natalie how to tube
feed , and we had a drink and a good bulldogging chat !A nice
evening to launch it !! thanks mates ...i slept well inbetween feeds
..with the two rescue dogs on my sofa ...by the pups .. |
|
| April 12th
Thursday the feed at 4am lasted all day literally , two are giving me
cause for concern and taking ages to feed at 3pm I had decided i had to tube
those two....the next feed they were visibly improved ..but they are all
pooping too loose ....grrrrrrr. At 11 .45 pm I decided I would tube
them all , reluctantly as I know now no one here can help me feed them , my
father is not well and I was trying to leave my option open to go there if
needed.Tracey Spalford has said she will come if the worst happens ..I have
a few observations , tube feeding fit puppies is a different thing to the
life saving method i have used previously , all videos show still little
pups with the tube being inserted ..ha ....these are like wriggling
eels, they have knocked the milk over before i got it in the tube several
times now however i have gotten wise to this now !!so they do not lie still
unless they are about to peg it ! |
| April 10th
Tuesday....I am very tired but the puppies are still going ok , they take so
long to bottle feed I am getting problems eating , washing and doing
anything but feed...the other dogs are very miserable and depressed i guess
they miss Effy and wonder who will be next.....
|
April
